The ingredient at the heart of the formula

Why hydroxyapatite is our featured ingredient

The formula includes 10% nano-hydroxyapatite, chosen because hydroxyapatite is chemically similar to tooth mineral. Its research story has three parts.

Tooth minerals

Researchers study hydroxyapatite-containing dental products for their interaction with tooth surfaces and mineral loss. A clinical caries trial tested a particular hydroxyapatite toothpaste, rather than this nano-hydroxyapatite powder. Matching an ingredient name or percentage does not make different products equivalent.

Sensitivity research

Hydroxyapatite particles can deposit over exposed dentinal tubules—the tiny channels implicated in dentin sensitivity. Studies have examined tubule occlusion with nano-hydroxyapatite toothpastes, and a clinical trial found reduced sensitivity with tested 10% and 15% nano-hydroxyapatite toothpastes. This provides a reason for our ingredient choice; sensitivity relief has not been demonstrated for this finished powder.

Brightness and surface stains

Hydroxyapatite has also been studied in whitening toothpastes, but results depend on the formulation. One 12-week clinical trial found no additional stain reduction from the hydroxyapatite toothpaste it tested compared with its control. Calcium carbonate and baking soda have a separate role as cleaning and polishing ingredients; we explain their research below.

The brighter-smile story

Mild whitening & surface-stain polishing

The aim is a cleaner, brighter-looking smile through surface polishing. Calcium carbonate and baking soda are used as cleaning ingredients in toothpastes; studies of particular formulas have measured reductions in external tooth staining.

Surface-stain removal can make teeth look brighter. It differs from peroxide bleaching, which changes tooth color chemically. This blend contains no peroxide. Its whitening performance and abrasivity have not been measured, so a shade change or a proven gentle whitening effect cannot be promised.

How to use

  1. Use a clean, dry spoon to place a small amount of powder in a separate dish. Lightly dampen a soft-bristled toothbrush and pick up the powder. Keep water and the toothbrush out of the jar.
  2. Brush gently for two minutes, covering the outer, inner and chewing surfaces of your teeth. Use light pressure; do not scrub hard.
  3. Spit out the excess after brushing. Wait 30–60 seconds before rinsing. Do not swallow.
  4. Rinse your toothbrush and let it air-dry. Close the jar tightly and keep the powder dry.

The ingredients and why they matter

Ingredient highlights. Finished-powder efficacy and abrasivity have not been established. It should not replace a dentist-recommended fluoride toothpaste.

Nano-hydroxyapatite · nHAp

10% nano-hydroxyapatite

Chemically similar to tooth mineral and studied in toothpastes for remineralization and sensitivity. Those findings do not establish enamel repair, cavity prevention or sensitivity relief for this dry powder.

Calcium carbonate · CaCO₃

Provides mineral cleaning and surface polishing during brushing. Finished-powder abrasivity has not been measured; brush gently.

Xylitol

Adds sweetness without table sugar. Studied in oral care, but cavity prevention is unproven for this blend. Toxic to dogs; keep away from pets.

Baking soda · sodium bicarbonate

Contributes cleaning and surface polishing. Whitening and abrasivity have not been measured for this finished powder.

Neem powder

Adds herbal character. Mouthrinse research does not establish antibacterial or gum-treatment benefits for this powder.

Licorice root powder

Adds botanical flavor. Research on isolated licorice compounds does not establish the same effects for whole root powder.

Triphala powder

A traditional three-fruit blend of amalaki, bibhitaki and haritaki, included for botanical character.

Clove powder

Adds a warm, aromatic flavor. It is not a treatment for toothache.

Fine sea salt

Contributes a mineral taste and the blend’s texture.

Peppermint essential oil

Adds a fresh flavor and cooling sensation. Freshness does not establish antibacterial activity.

Ingredient research & references

Care and storage

Keep tightly closed and dry. Contains xylitol: keep away from dogs. Stop if the mouth or gums become irritated.

A finished-product shelf life has not been established here. Changes in smell, color or texture are reasons to stop using the product. Skin products: try a small area first and stop if irritation occurs.
